School Supplies Needed
for Backpack
Program
Thousand
Oaks, CA - August
3, 2007 -
Preparing a child for their first
day of school takes a great deal of support. The Backpack School Supply
Program run by Many Mansions' Children Services Program assists
low-income residents with purchasing supplies for children and teens
currently enrolled in school. With the support of the community
each student is given a brand new backpack, which includes supplies
needed to start their school year ready and prepared for learning.
"Students benefit greatly
emotionally and with greater self-esteem because they look like all the
other children in the school with new items and backpacks for the first
day of school," said Fiona Kilner, Director of Services. Parents
also benefit, especially if they have more than one child, they would be
spending hundreds of dollars they may not be able to afford, getting all
of the supplies that are required for each grade at school.
How Can You Help
In-kind or monetary donations are
accepted. The Backpack School
Supply Program is in need of the following items:
- Backpacks,
pens, pencils, compasses

markers, pencil sharpeners with catchers
- Highlighters,
colored pencils, scissors
- Rulers,

A total of 300 of each item is needed to
fill enough backpacks for Many Mansions resident children. If you are unable to bring in items on
the wish list, monetary donations are accepted as well. All donations must be received by
