The Value
of Volunteer Hours
Over last couple of years, Many
Mansions' Volunteer Program has increased to well over 100
participants. The average volunteer has given at least 24.1 hours of
their time to serve the organization's mission of providing hope and
homes.
According to Independent Sector, a nonpartisan coalition of charities,
foundations, and corporate philanthropy programs, the 2006
estimate for the value of a volunteer hour is $18.77 per hour.[1][1]
"In the last year, Many Mansions volunteers
have given approximately 2,800 hours of volunteer time. This number
reflects those volunteers who regularly contribute to our Homework &
Literacy Program, Food Share, office assistance, and special
events," said Lindsey Garner,
Community Development Associate. The total number of
hours volunteers have contributed to Many Mansions calculates
to more than $52,550 in value.
Like many non-profits, volunteers play a significant part
in the success of Many Mansions. Fundraisers, office work, and the
non-profit's service programs such as the After-School Homework/ Literacy
Programs, Summer Camp and FoodSHARE rely heavily on the time and patience
volunteers give freely.
Many Mansions values its volunteers and would like
thank each person that has contributed their time and energy to
making their organization successful during the 2006-2007
