The purpose of the children’s programs, conducted on-site at four of Many Mansions’ properties, is to provide educational and life enriching activities to keep the resident youth engaged and supported in their schooling. It also helps develop their self-esteem, interpersonal relationships and their sense of pride and achievement. The prevailing goal of these programs is to ‘break the cycle of poverty’ giving them hope for a brighter future and a sense of responsibility within their community. By providing resources not available, the children are given opportunities they need to grow and succeed in their education, career, and life. All programs are offered free of charge to residents.
The Homework Club is an after school tutoring program that provides an educational environment in which children have one-on-one tutoring and homework assistance every school night for three hours. Staff and community volunteers provide the tutoring, computer and Internet access, computer educational programs, and an extensive reading library.
Camp Many Mansions is a fun and educational seven week camp experience for resident children. Activities include arts & crafts, group activities, swimming, sports, math, science, reading, and weekly field trips.
Youth Friday Enrichment Program provides activities for younger children designed to enhance their education and broaden their awareness and knowledge of the world around them. The Youth Program addresses three major topics: STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math), Literacy and Art and Health and Nutrition
Teen Friday Enrichment Program is focused on various aspects of teen development, including socioemotional learning, job seeking, and leadership. There are three main subcomponents of Teen Program: Career Prep, Teen Talk and Youth Advisory Board.
Holiday Gift Program provides every child a gift during the holiday season. Generous donors adopt a child’s wish list and give the gift of joy each year by helping ensure all children receive gifts during the holidays.
Volunteers play an integral part in all of our programs by generously giving of their time to tutor children, plan and lead activities, oversee crafts and games, speak on special topics, and much more.
Children’s Services is an essential element in our efforts to break the cycle of poverty and provide Many Mansions’ resident children with an enriching environment to help them be successful later in life.
