Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! This year, we are raising awareness through resource fairs, events for youth residents, an art show, and our “You Matter” campaign.

We chose “You Matter” as a statement that would encourage conversations about the importance of mental health with residents. The inspiration behind the logo is our late D-Street resident, Jesus Torres-Gonzalez. Jesus was a psychology student, fascinated with the brain and how the mind works. The Psi symbol is the 23rd letter in the Greek alphabet and represents the field of psychology. Jesus had a tattoo of this symbol. The orange circle represents a sun, encouraging others to be the sunshine of their day. The roots represent growth, community, and planting positive things and thoughts. The color teal is the mental health awareness color.
