At Many Mansions, we put our volunteers in touch with the people who need them most.

We welcome all volunteers – from high school and college students to young adults, families, seniors, and corporate partners. Add yourself to a growing list of people who care about their communities; people who roll up their sleeves to tackle an issue and contribute to a cause and share their skills with a local organization like us!

If you are interested or would like more information about volunteering, contact Corporate & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator Hannah Blitstein at hannahb@manymansions.org.

Ongoing Opportunities

Bowls of Hope Committee: Bowls of Hope is a community event with the goal of raising awareness of the homelessness issue in California, while acknowledging how far we have come as an organization. With Bowls of Hope being our biggest fundraiser of the year, this action-based committee sets out to connect and engage individuals, partner organizations, and corporations, while planning the event itself. With staff support, committee members are expected to gather a minimum of 2 gifts through their action, whether monetary or in-kind.

The committee meets monthly September – November, and bi-weekly December – March via Zoom and in-person.

Youth Club: Utilize your mentorship skills in this after-school program for Many Mansions residents. Volunteers help residents with their homework; participate in outdoor activities like sports and yoga; encourage literacy and math skills; prep snacks; and more!

Youth Club runs Monday – Thursday throughout the school year from 2:45-6pm. Volunteers are asked to come one day a week (for a minimum of 1 hour) for one month.

Camp Many Mansions: Join Many Mansions’ residents during the summer for six fun-filled, themed weeks! Camp Many Mansions intermixes a traditional summer camp experience with educational elements. Each activity is designed to have campers think critically and practice the skills they learned during the school year. Campers go swimming and attend off-site field trips weekly.

Volunteers are asked to volunteer for one week of camp (Monday – Wednesday for 5 hours each day). Scheduling will open in late spring 2024.

Pop-Up Volunteering: Help us with various needs! Organizing and inventorying items; stuffing letters; making phone calls for donation campaigns; and many other opportunities! These are great if you want to be involved with Many Mansions, but cannot commit to a weekly opportunity.

Volunteers will receive an email with a description of the project, and a proposed date and time to volunteer. Most of the time, these are flexible.

Front Desk: Support our administrative team by volunteering at the Front Desk. In this position, you will be the first person people meet when coming to Many Mansions’ office. Your role would be to greet guests; answer and direct phone calls; periodically update housing resources lists; and complete light filing/copying duties.

Note: to be successful in this role, one must be able to navigate Microsoft 365 and be comfortable working with the public.

Volunteers can pick a one day, Monday – Friday, to volunteer either in the morning or afternoon. This position is designed to be a long-term role
