John Charles Maddux serves as the CEO of Sunstone Properties Trust (“Sunstone”) (www.sunstonept.com), a real estate private equity firm actively involved in acquiring workforce value-add multifamily assets, and in developing multifamily properties. Additionally, John is Chairman and co-founder of Two Tree Capital (“Two Tree”) (www.twotreecapital.com). Two Tree is a sponsor and developer of build for rent communities.

Previously, John served as the President and COO of MMPI, now known as EVOQ Properties. His background includes, among other types of real estate projects, direct experience in all aspects of the acquisition, development, rehabilitation, and management of multifamily, industrial, and office developments and redevelopments.

In his career, John has participated in over $25 billion in real estate transactions. He has had personal responsibility for the acquisition, development or rehabilitation and management of projects ranging in size from less than $1 million to over $5 billion.

Since 1996, John has also been the President of Sunstone Partners, LLC. Sunstone Partners buys, sells, renovates, and operates industrial, office, residential and multifamily properties and acquires real property secured debt. From 1998 through 2004, John served as a founder and shareholder of the law firm Nevers, Palazzo, Maddux & Packard, PLC (now known as Nevers, Palazzo, Packard, Wildermuth & Wynner, PLC). He practiced law with O’Melveny & Myers LLP from 1986 to 1996, where he was a member of the real estate practice group and the vice chair of the real estate workout practice group.

John earned his bachelor’s degree in business management-finance from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management and his J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he graduated Cum Laude. He is a member of the National Multi-Housing Council and the Urban Land Institute. John is married to Laurie Holley Maddux. They are the parents of three sons and have four grandchildren. John and Laurie live in Camarillo, California.

John serves as Many Mansions’ Board Treasurer. In addition, he serves on the Executive Committee, and co-chairs the Real Estate Development Board Committee.
